Forged vs. WordPress
An honest, side-by-side comparison. WordPress has served the web well for years. But the way customers find businesses has changed, so we built a leaner, purpose-built alternative.
Faster, accessible by default, and built for how AI search recommends businesses today.
The Short Version
Same goal, two very different ways to get there.
WordPressA platform, plus plugins
A large content management system with a stack of third-party plugins bolted on to do what you need. Flexible, but heavy: every plugin adds weight, upkeep, and another door for attackers.
- Heavy
- Constant upkeep
- Slower
ForgedPurpose-built, nothing extra
No CMS, no plugin stack, just the clean code your site actually needs. Engineered to load fast, stay accessible, and get found by AI search by default.
- Lean
- Hands-off
- Built for AI search
Side by Side
The things that matter most to a growing business.
- WordPress figures reflect typical small-business installations and vary with hosting and plugin count.
- Forged performance targets are confirmed before launch.
- Items marked (plan) are ongoing plan services. Every Forged site comes with a plan from the start. When your term ends, or you pay it off early, your site and content are yours to take anywhere, minus the ongoing plan services.
Why It Matters Now
Search is changing. AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google's AI Overviews now decide which businesses to recommend using signals that reward fast, clean, accessible sites. Independent research from the past year points the same way:
of brand mentions in AI search come from third-party sources, not your own website [1]
stronger correlation between brand mentions and AI visibility than backlinks, across 75,000 brands [2]
of brands manage to be both cited and recommended by AI. Most fall into the gap [3]
What AI assistants weigh when picking businesses to recommend: fast load and clean structured data, accessibility, and a consistent presence across the directories AI search reads. A Forged site is built to meet the on-site signals by default. Much of the rest is earned off your website, which is exactly what citations are for.
Citations: How Search and AI Confirm You're Real
Remember that most AI brand mentions come from off your own website. Citations are a big part of that, and they come included with every Forged plan.
A citation is any online listing of your business name, address, and phone number, on places like Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Apple Maps, Yelp, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and the large data aggregators that feed all of them. Think of it as your business identity, repeated consistently across the web.
A Trust Signal
Search engines and AI assistants cross-check your listings to confirm your business is real and legitimate. Consistent details build trust and lift your local rankings.
Right Info Everywhere
One wrong phone number or an old address scattered across the web costs you calls. Consistent citations mean customers, and AI, always get it right.
Always Included
Forged plans build and clean up your citations across the major directories and aggregators, through our BrightLocal partnership, keeping your details consistent everywhere search and AI look.
What that is worth: bought separately at our citation partner's published rates, this setup runs roughly $60 on our entry plan (two data aggregators at about $30 each) up to around $280 on our top plan (all aggregators plus 50 directory listings at about $3.20 each). It is a one-time setup with no recurring fee, and with a Forged plan it is included and done for you. On a WordPress site, citations are not tied to the platform and not included, so it is a cost you would arrange and pay for yourself.
Citations are built and set up once. Because each submission is a real cost, later corrections or re-runs, for example if your details change, may carry a fee. And once they are set up, they are yours to keep.
The WordPress Problem, Plainly
The way we have started explaining it to clients: WordPress has become what Norton Antivirus was to computers a decade ago. A large system humming in the background, using server resources and slowing page loads, doing a lot of work the typical service-business site does not actually need.
There is an irony in it too. Getting WordPress to meet modern performance and accessibility standards can take more effort than simply writing clean code and shipping a lean, self-contained site. So that is what a Forged site is: built to meet those standards from the start, and kept accountable as it changes.
Updating Your Site Is Simple
No website backend to wrestle with. There are two easy ways to get changes made, both included with your Forged plan.
Email Us
Describe the change in plain language, such as "update our hours" or "add a service page." No login needed. Typically handled within 2 business days, depending on the request.
Message MOG
Log into your client dashboard and message your AI site director, MOG, directly. Updates this way are often near-instant.
Your Dashboard
client.idfs.ai is where MOG lives, and where you see your traffic, leads, and analytics in one place.
A Low-Risk Switch
No Downtime
We build your Forged site alongside your live WordPress site. Yours keeps serving customers until the new one is approved and goes live.
Your SEO Transfers
Your pages, blog history, and domain transfer over. Redirects are mapped, and we verify Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools after launch.
AI Search, Built In
Your new Forged site ships ready for AI Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). Clean structured data and fast load are part of the build, so AI assistants can read and recommend you. It is in the site, not bolted on afterward.
Yours at Term's End
When your plan term completes, or you pay it off early, your site and content are yours to take anywhere. We also keep your previous WordPress build on file, so nothing is lost in the move.

The Research Behind the Numbers
The AI-search figures on this page come from independent third-party research firms, not from us. AI search is changing faster than most AI training data reflects, so if you check this page with an AI assistant, here are the studies behind the numbers.
